The Center for Studies in Higher Education at UC Berkeley is a multi-disciplinary research and policy center on higher education oriented to California, the nation, and comparative international issues. CSHE promotes discussion among university leaders, government officials, and academics; assists policy-making by providing a neutral forum for airing contentious issues; and keeps the higher education world informed of new initiatives and proposals. The Center's research aims to inform current debate about higher education policy and practice. Research at CSHEHigher Education in the Digital Age – Policy implications of emerging information and communication technologies for higher education teaching, research, and administration. Science and Technology Policy and Higher Education – Institutional and governmental policies for higher education, innovation, the development of, and achievement of greater diversity in, the workforce, technology transfer and regional development. The Research University – Various aspects of public research universities, including the student experience, the nature of general education, and a comparative international study. Policy Issues in California Higher Education – Policy matters unique to California, its three-tiered public higher education system, and the California Master Plan for Higher Education. University of California History – The history of the ten-campus University of California system and how it relates to California's society and economy. |
