A NEW PRESIDENTIAL WEBSITE

July 1, 2014

The Center for Studies in Higher Education is pleased to announce a new collaboration: the President Emeritus David Pierpont Gardner website.  Debuting early August, Dr. Gardner’s website will  highlight his presidencies at the University of Utah from 1973-1983 and the University of California from 1983-1992.

The website reflects Dr. Gardner’s career-long interest in issues of leadership in higher education.  Prefaced by a set of guiding principles, his publications and speeches will be presented through the following leadership themes: Understanding the University’s Place in American Culture and Society, Working with University Constituencies, Exercising Leadership in the Interests of the Institution, and Influencing Education on the National and International Scenes.

A special feature of the biographical section of the website is an annotated professional timeline linked to Dr. Gardner’s 2005 book, Earning My Degree: Memoirs of an American University President.  In cooperation with the UC Press, the California Digital Library’s eScholarship has placed Earning My Degree on line and is creating the Presidential Papers repository of Dr. Gardner’s published articles and speeches.
