Bio/CV: 

Dr. Munir Moosa holds Ph.D in education. He is currently a Visiting Academic Scholar at the Center for Studies in Higher Education, UC Berkeley. He is also an Assistant Professor at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Pakistan. In addition, he is the founding volunteer director of Global Forum for Teacher Educators, where he promotes value education among young people, and also provides free human rights trainings to the children and women of the marginalized communities.

 

He is the recipient of the Georg Eckert summer fellowship, and also served as Visiting Academic Scholar at Humboldt University of Berlin.  Moreover, he did several multi-disciplinary online certifications from highly reputed international institutions such as Harvard University and University of Toronto.

 

His areas of interest include global education, peace education, human rights education, multicultural education, education in the conflicted areas, global issues pertaining to human rights and young people identities.

 

During his stay at CSHE, Munir will conduct a small scale research study to explore the elements of human rights in education policies at the higher education level in Pakistan and USA, and will also identify the major challenges face by higher education to promote human rights values. He is also invited to deliver guest lectures at Graduate School of Education, UC, Berkeley and at other renowned institutes.

 

Munir aims at bringing sustainable changes in the higher education policies and curriculum. He wants to build bridges between the global communities through the mediation of education, and desires to prepare globally competent individuals, who can use their wisdom to tackle local and global issues effectively.
