Chronicle of the University of California
Issue #2 Excerpts: "Dean Lucy Sprague, the Partheneia, and the Arts"
Volume 1, number 2, of the Chronicle of the University of California is devoted to women at the University of California. In its twenty-six articles we include women who have added surface color and intellectual depth to the university, from the rawest coed to the famous scientist, to suffragettes and YWCA officers, faculty members, faculty wives, and athletes, singers, dancers, poets, and the inevitable wealthy donors. Some received honorary degrees and some never received tenure. There are 184 pages and 140 pictures illustrating not a story of "everywoman," but a sampling from every era and every category—we hope as entertaining as enlightening.
