Higher Education in the Digital Age Science & Technology Policy and Higher Education Policy Issues in California Higher Education |
Eligibility and Admissions Criteria for undergraduate eligibility for the University of California system and for selection among eligible students for admission to specific campuses have been major public issues for several decades and continue to be so. Through Research Associate Saul Geiser and his co-workers, the Center has been undertaking projects that support the work of the Academic Senate's Board on Admissions and Relations with Schools in establishing policies for eligibility and admissions. With support from the Koret Foundation, the Center has also undertaken studies of the worth of Advanced Placement courses and tests as predictors of success in undergraduate performance. Options for gaining future capacity for the University of California have been explored in a recent paper, "An Analysis of Alternatives for Gaining Capacity so as to Maintain Access to the University of California." |
