Higher Education in the Digital Age Science & Technology Policy and Higher Education Policy Issues in California Higher Education |
Issues of Science and Technology Policy Coupling With Higher Education Matters of science and technology policy have become more and more prevalent and dominant in higher education, particularly for research universities because of their centrality in the development of the science and technology workforce, and in innovation, technology transfer and regional development. Recent research at CSHE has deal with the nature of the graduate-level education experience and its interaction with the career paths and career choices of women and minorities. Another subject under development concerns the nature of undergraduate education involving transfer from community colleges to four-year universities and how it can be better nurtured. Needed changes in engineering education are also being examined, particularly relating to broadening the education of engineers so as to prepare students better for the needed interactions and flexibility in their careers.
