Philipp Meller is a policy officer at a state ministry for science and research in Germany. He supervises non-university research institutes and the cross-cutting issues of Research and Development (R&D) and the Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation (PFI, BuFI). Previously, he worked as a history lecturer at university (2014─2017) and as a science manager in higher education. From 2017 to 2019, he was part of the founding team of the Berlin Institute for Islamic Theology, coordinating the political negotiations and the establishment of the institute’s administrative structures. From 2019 to 2023 he served as personal advisor to the President of Humboldt University Berlin, providing advice on higher education policy, writing speeches as well as overseeing several strategic projects of knowledge transfer and administrative structures. Philipp studied History and Religious Studies in Heidelberg and Berlin, obtaining his PhD in Global Medieval History in 2020.
