SERU Symposium: Politics and Policy - A New Era For UG and Graduate Education

June 15-16, 2017
Location: Rutgers University (New Brunswick Campus)
In an era of political flux and increased expectations that higher education promote socioeconomic mobility and economic development, the 2017 SERU Research Symposium will provide a forum for member campuses and invited colleagues to discuss and analyze this new political environment and its meaning for our students. The symposium will also provide a venue for an international comparative discussion on the state and future of graduate education that aligns with the launch of gradSERU, as well as sessions that will explore issues related to campus climate and inclusion, and the interplay of civic engagement and citizenship. Planned session and speakers:

  • Higher Education Under the Trump Administration - Assessing the Impact on SERU Campuses and their Students
  • Civic Engagement and Citizenship
  • Forum on the Future of Graduate Education - An International Comparative Discussion
  • Campus Climate - Case Examples Using SERU Data and Analysis
  • Keynote: The Changing Landscape of the Law and Universities - Barbara Lee (Senior Vice President Academic Affairs - Rutgers University)
